29 CFR 1926.651(h)(1): Employees were working in excavations in which there was accumulated water, or excavations in which water was accumulating, and adequate precautions had not been taken to protect employees against the hazards posed by water accumulation. The employer is failing to protect employees from caught in, struck-by, engulfment and electrical shock and/or burn hazards associated with trenching. This was most recently documented on or about 05/29/2019, at a jobsite located at 2600 block of NE 46th St, KC MO. An employee was observed working in an excavation that had water accumulating in it which compromised the integrity of the trench walls. An employee was exposed to an excavation collapse in the excavation with a depth of greater than 5 feet in depth and approximately 47 feet long (14 feet North to South, and 33 feet East to West). Blue Nile Contractors was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.651(h)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1341476, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 11/06/2018, with respect to a workplace located at 202 Winn Rd, KC MO.
