29 CFR 1910.134(f)(1): The employer did not ensure that employee(s) required to use a tight-fitting facepiece respirator passed the appropriate qualitative fit test (QLFT) or quantitative fit test (QNFT): Employees were exposed to health hazards. Employees engaged in painting activities using the Sperian 100400 NIOSH dual cartridge half mask respirator in the spray paint booth were exposed to health and inhalation hazards including paint fumes, in that the employer did not ensure the appropriate qualitative fit test (QLFT) or quantitative fit test was conducted. They were not fit tested before using the tight-fitting respirators during spray painting operations. Smith & Smith Aircraft International, Ltd. has been previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.134(f)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1210772, Citation number 1, Item number 2, issued on 04/05/2017, with respect to a workplace located at 3738 W. 29th Street South Wichita, KS 67217, with a final order date of 04/27/2017. 29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1) requires certification and documentation that the abatement of the above violation is complete.
