29 CFR 1910.176(b): Storage of material created a hazard: a) On or about October 2, 2018 the employer failed to ensure boxes in the back receiving area were safely and securely staged to protect employees working directly in the area from a struck-by hazard. b) On or about October 2, 2018 the employer failed to ensure merchandise located in the back receiving area by the layaway section were safely and securely stored in the racks to protect employees who are placing and retrieving merchandise from a struck-by hazard. The Burlington Coat Factory was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.176(b), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1261796, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on January 31, 2018, with respect to a workplace located at 800 Barnum Ave Cutoff, Stratford CT 06614.
