OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. Rig #7. On or about April 09, 2018, employees were operating an oil/gas well service rig in support of the serving of an oil/gas well. One employee worked on the rig derrick rod basket where the secondary means of emergency egress, the Geronimo system, had not been installed. This exposed the employee to the hazards of fire/explosion. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation describing the actions it is taking to establish, communicate, and implement policies for the use of the Geronimo system to protect employees exposed to fire/explosion from heights hazards.
