Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: a. On or about March 15, 2017, at the pool pump room area, the eye wash station in the area did not have a plumbing pipe line connected. Employees use corrosive products such as Smart muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid), Pool Fresh chlorinating 3 inch tablets (trichloro-s-triazinetrione) and Leslie's granulating powder (calcium hypochlorite) during pool water treatment operation. NOTE 1: Sugar Bay Resort & Spa was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 930493, Citation Number 1, Item Number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on 09/16/2013, with respect to a workplace located at 6500 Estate Smith Bay, St. Thomas, VI 00802. NOTE 2: Sugar Bay Resort & Spa was previously cited for a Failure to Abate (FTA) violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 570741, Citation Number 1, Item Number 2, Instances (b) and (c) and was affirmed as a final order on 09/16/2013, with respect to a workplace located at 6500 Estate Smith Bay, St. Thomas, VI 00802. NOTE 3: Sugar Bay Resort & Spa was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 570741, Citation Number 1, Item Number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on 11/29/2012 with respect to a workplace located at 6500 Estate Smith Bay, St. Thomas, VI 00802. NOTE 4: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
