29 CFR 1910.23(d)(1): Every flight of stairs having four or more risers shall be equipped with standard stair railings or standard handrails as specified in paragraphs (d)(1)(i) through (v) of this section, the width of the stair to be measured clear of all obstructions except handrails: MES department, MES 1, MES 2, MES 3: on or about October 18, 2016, employees were using stairways to access equipment's machining areas for regular setup and production tasks, and to return to operator's cabs. Operators were exposed to fall hazards over 4 feet likely to result in serious injury where standard stair railings were not provided on each open side. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
