Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraphs (b) or (c) of this section: a. On Midway Blvd, at the south side of the intersection with Edgewater Drive, employees were exposed to a caught in hazard, in that, shoring or sloping was not used to protect employees when installing a 10 inch sanitary sewer pipe in an excavation with type "C" soil which was 10 feet deep, 45 feet long and 17 feet wide, on or about 10/21/2015. b. On Edgewater Drive west of the intersection with Midway Blvd, employees were exposed to a caught in hazard, in that, shoring or sloping was not used to protect employees when installing a 10 inch sanitary sewer pipe and a 12 inch reclaim water pipe in an excavation with type "C" soil which was 10 feet deep, 250 feet long and 15 feet wide, on or about 10/21/2015.
