Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to corrosive contact hazards from possible leaks, ruptures, or spray-outs from values, pipelines, vessels, and equipment handling corrosive materials. The following conditions contributed to the existence of these hazards: a) Recaust Plant - The A Slaker tank was leaking and needed repair. b) Recaust Plant, Pump Alley - Flanged joints on an overhead caustic line did not have shields to protect employees from accidental spray-outs. Your company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard which was contained in OSHA inspection no. 018058123, Citation #1, item 9, issued on 07/27/88.
