29 CFR 1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes: On or before August 18, 2015, the employer failed to require an employee working with Waste Stream 117779-5 to wear butyl gloves. The employee performed the work while wearing Stanzoil (style NL 34) neoprene gloves and nitrile gloves (style G-10). The gloves did not provide adequate protection from chemicals in Waste Stream 117779-5, including but not limited to p-chloroaniline as evidenced by higher than normal methemoglobin levels found in the employee. Heritage Thermal Services, was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.138(a), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 281555, citation number 1, item number 5 and was affirmed as a final order on September 27, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 1250 St. George St. E. Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
