29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): The employer did not provide employees with effective information and training, as required by the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, about any health and safety hazards for chemicals, products, or materials employees use or may be exposed to: a) Training required by the Hazard Communication standard was not provided to employees. During concrete construction activities employees may be exposed to health and/or safety hazards such as the following: --- Form Oil vapors when applying the oil and when removing the forms. --- Carbon Monoxide exposure when operating kerosene heaters in enclosed tented spaces to heat the underside of newly poured concrete floors to keep them from freezing during cold weather. Abatement note: HazCom training includes: (1) Identifies any hazardous chemicals, materials, or products, that are in the work area; explains product labelling requirements. (2) Provides health and safety information (MSDS sheets) for these chemicals/ products. Explains how employees can access the employer's MSDS sheets. (3) Provides procedures/ measures to protect from the chemical/ product hazards, such as: work practices (avoidance/ limiting of exposure); use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, ventilation, fire extinguisher; emergency procedures. Location: 81 Fleet Place, Brooklyn, N.Y; construction worksite. On or about 2/24/2014 NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
