29 CFR 1910.217(f)(2): Operator(s) were not trained and instructed in the safe method of work before starting work on mechanical power press(es). The employer did not insure by adequate supervision that correct operating procedures were being followed. a. American Fine Sinter Co., Ltd. - Tiffin, OH: On or about March 30, 2017, the employer did not ensure that employees who operate the #AI-80-02 Aida sizing press (s/n 10408-0930) were instructed in the safe operation of the press in that the key selector switch for the press run mode was not supervised. The key, used to change press modes, was kept in the selector switch and not supervised to ensure that the press mode was not changed without the operators knowledge. b. American Fine Sinter Co., Ltd. - Tiffin, OH: On or about March 30, 2017, the employer did not ensure that employees who operate the #AI-80-03 Aida sizing press (s/n 10408-0936) were instructed in the safe operation of the press in that the key selector switch for the press run mode was not supervised. The key, used to change press modes, was kept in the selector switch and not supervised to ensure that the press mode was not changed without the operators knowledge. American Fine Sinter Co., Ltd. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1910.217(f)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 946925, citation number 1, item number 4 and was affirmed as a final order on February 10, 2014, with respect to a workplace located at 957 N. Maule Rd., Tiffin, OH 44883.
