29 CFR 1910.184(f)(5)(iii): Wire rope sling(s) that had kinking, crushing, bird caging or other damage resulting in distortion of the wire rope structure were not immediately removed from service: The employer is failing to protect employees from struck by and crushed by hazards associated with material handling activities. This was most recently documented on or about October 2, 2024, at a worksite located at 1615 W Arrow St, Marshall, MO 65340. The employer did not ensure that employees were protected from struck by and crushed by hazards, in that employees were using wire rope slings with bird gaging and spreading of the individual wires to rig precast concrete parts to mobile gantry cranes during material handling operations. CORESLAB STRUCTURS, Inc was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.184(f)(5)(iii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1605590, citation number 1, item number 5b and was affirmed as a final order on 01/26/2023, with respect to a workplace located at 1615 W Arrow St, Marshall, MO 65340.
