29 CFR 1926.652(c)(2)(i): Design of support systems, shield systems, or other protective systems that are drawn from manufacturer's tabulated data were not in accordance with all specifications, recommendations, and limitations issued or made by the manufacturer: a) On September 30, 2024, at the above addressed jobsite, employees in excavations were not provided with adequate cave-in protection as the protective system that was being utilized was not in accordance with all specifications. The shoring was installed horizontally, the number of shores were inadequate, and the number of boards were not adequate for the size of the excavation. Pappas Company, LTD. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29CFR 1926.652(c)(2)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1710461, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on April 29, 2024, with respect to a workplace located at 205 Chestnut Street in Winnetka, Illinois. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
