29 CFR 1910.28(b)(8): The employer did not provide fall protection systems for repair pits, service pits, and assembly pits: On or about November 27, 2018: a) APU II #6 - Employees performing tasks including, but not limited to walking, setting up, maintenance, troubleshooting, removing jams, and minor tool changes were exposed to fall hazards where the employer failed to cover an 11" deep, 32" long, and 19" wide pit located at the feeding control panel of the machine located behind the machine. b) APU II #1 - Employees performing tasks including, but not limited to walking, setting up, maintenance, troubleshooting, removing jams, and minor tool changes were exposed to fall hazards where the employer did not ensure adequate fall protection was installed around the pit. The guarding consisted of a partial cover and employees were exposed to falling approximately 31-inches inside the pit located behind the machine. Kumho Tire Georgia, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of an equivalent Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1910.22(c), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1196140, citation 1, item 2 issued June 6, 2017 and was affirmed as a final order on June 30, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 3051 Kumho Parkway, Macon GA 31216.
