29 CFR 1910.1025(e)(1)(i): For any employees exposed to lead above the permissible exposure limit for more than 30 days per year where engineering and work practice controls (including administrative controls) were feasible but did not reduce the employees' exposure to or below the permissible exposure limit the employer did not use engineering and/or work practice controls to reduce exposures to the lowest feasible level: The employer is failing to provide engineering and work practice controls to effectively reduce or minimize the lead exposures in the workplace. This was last observed on November 29, 2016, at 413 E Berg Rd, Salina, Kansas. a) An employee engaged in grid casting activities was exposed to a 12 hour time weighted average (TWA) level of 50.2 ug/m3 of lead, which is 1.5 times the calculated OSHA permissible exposure level (PEL) of 33.3 ug/m3. b) An employee engaged in the COS stacking operations was exposed to a 12 hour TWA level of 289.5 ug/m3 of lead, which is 8.7 times the calculated OSHA permissible exposure level (PEL) of 33.3 ug/m3. Exide Technologies was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.1025(e)(1)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 314181025, citation number 2, item number 1b and was affirmed as a final order on August 3, 2011, last abatement date November 30, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 7471 S. 5th St., Frisco, Texas 75034.
