North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards: a)jobsite - employees were working underneath and within 45 foot wide truss web to install trusses above a concrete slab. The trusses were not stabilized and rolled/collapsed in that they had not been provided with proper restraint/bracing for the top chord, web member plane, or bottom chord. ABATEMENT NOTE: 1)Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards is to provide and install bracing for trusses in accordance with the BCSI- B1 Summary sheet - Guide for handling, installing, restraining, and bracing of trusses. Bracing the gable end truss with ground braces directly in line with all rows of top chord temporary lateral bracing. The three planes of roof requiring bracing with diagonal braces for the top chord plane with 2"x4"X8' lengths on center. The bottom chord plane with lateral braces of 2"x4"x12' length lapped over 2 trusses and diagonal braces every 10 truss spaces. The web member plane chord with diagonal braces every 10 truss spaces.
