Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i)(A): Authorized employee(s) did not receive training in the recognition of applicable hazardous energy sources, the type and magnitude of the energy available in the workplace, and the methods and means necessary for energy isolation and control: On or about March 1, 2017, employees required to perform servicing tasks on Line 3, such as cleaning, were exposed to fractures, lacerations, and amputations due to moving and rotating components that were energized. The employer did not ensure each that employee required to service Line 3 had been adequately trained to safely perform servicing activities. Hydrox Chemical Company, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i)(A), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1020313, citation number 1, item number 1a and was affirmed as a final order on August 14, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 825 Tollgate Road, Elgin IL 60123. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
