29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc: a. On or about September 8, 2016, at the forming department of the above addressed jobsite, an employee was exposed to a caught by hazard while working with a drill press (i.e. no other info available) that lacked a guard on its point of operation. b. On or about September 8, 2016, at the cutting department of the above addressed jobsite, an employee was exposed to a caught by hazard while working with a circular saw (i.e. Delta) that lacked guards on both sides of the exposed lower portion of the blade. Pavilion Furniture Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 513638, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on October 3, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 16200 NW 49th Avenue, Hialeah, FL 33014.
