29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): a) On or about 7/28/2015, at job site at 20 East 72nd Street, New York, NY 10021: Employer had not assessed the workplace to determine the appropriates types of personal protective equipment required for all tasks, despite using Soprema Alsan RS 230 Field and RS 230 Flash roofing coatings, both chemicals which irritate the eyes and skin, and which can cause allergic skin sensitization. Employees applied these coatings while wearing shorts and tank tops, and safety glasses which offer no protection from vapor hazards.
