Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing, or likely to cause, death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a fall hazard: The employer does not provide a safe means of egress from the pipe racking board. This violation last occurred on or about October 26, 2010 and at times prior thereto when employees were removing two and three-eighths inch production tubing from the wellbore in preparation for perforation of the casing at a new zone. Basic Energy Servies, Inc., Rig Number 1352 was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 310903422, citation number 01, item number 001 and was affirmed as a final order on 07/10/07, with respect to a workplace located at IH 37, Corpus Christi, Texas 78409. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19 within ten (10) days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps it is taking to ensure the correct and proper installation of the one-half inch wire rope Geronimo Emergency Escape Line, to the anchor.
