Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling objects and struck by hazards: a)Impregnating Area, 959 Market Street, Paterson, NJ: The hook of a Yale Electric hoist was not equipped with a safety latch, on or about 09/12/2011. b)Stranding Area, 959 Market Street, Paterson, NJ: The hook of a Yale electric hoist was not equipped with a safety latch, on or about 09/12/2011. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to equip hoist hooks with safety latches as described in ANSI B30.16-2007 Section 16-1.2.9 (Hooks). A latch shall be provided to bridge the throat opening of the hook and retain, under slack conditions, such items as, but not limited to, slings and chains. The Okonite Company was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or equivalent standard General Duty Clause Section 5(a)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection 311053201; Citation number 01, Item number 001, issued on 10/06/2008 at a site located at 959 Market Street, Paterson, NJ.
