North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards associated with working in a hot environment: a)facility - where several employees were suffering from heat-related symptoms such as, but not limited to, nausea, sweating, vomiting, shivering, headaches, and stomachaches, and two employees were admitted to the hospital on August 16, 2005 for heat-related symptoms. FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHODS TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTING WORK/REST CYCLES AND INSTALLING A MORE EFFECTIVE COOLING SYSTEM FOR THE BUILDING, IMPLEMENTING A WORK/REST CYCLE, AND TRAINING EMPLOYEES ON THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT STRESS, FACTORS THAT AFFECT A PERSON'S RISK, PREVENTION, AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES. ENSURE THAT EMPLOYEES ARE PROPERLY ACCLIMATED TO THE WORK ENVIRONMENT.
