Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being caught in machinery with no emergency stop controllers within the immediate vicinity. (Reference ANSI B20.1 - 1972, Section 5.15.2.5.3): a)Fuquay-Varina site - On or about 01/23/2004, no means to stop a MARCO conveyor belt during an emergency. ABATEMENT METHOD: One feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to implement an emergency stop method in accordance with ANSI B20.1 - 1972, Section 5.15.2.5.3.
