Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CUTS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being thrown from a powered industrial truck: (A)Outside Building 5: On or about 19 December 2000, an employee was observed operating a Hyster powered industrial truck without wearing the seat belt. (B)Outside Maintenance Shop: On or about 19 December 2000, and at times prior thereto, employees were not required to wear seat belts when operating powered industrial trucks. (C)Cut Line #2: On or about 19 December 2000, and at times prior thereto, employees were not required to wear seat belts when operating powered industrial trucks. Note: Abatement certification required for this item. ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD, AMONG OTHERS, TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO: train employees on the proper use of seat belts and have supervisors check to ensure they are adhering to the training. NOTE: Woodgrain Millwork, Inc was previously cited for violation of this occupational safety and health standard which is contained in OSHA Inspection #3022580659, issued on 18 Nov 1999.
