Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazards of fall from structural steel 32-34 feet high and/or being struck by collapsing structural steel members. A) 67 RT. 46, Fairfield,NJ 07004 Structural steel framing under construction did not have a sufficient number of plumbing up guy cables to plumb and secure the structure and prevent sway and/ or collapse. Structure had only two (2) plumbing up cables installed at one corner. An acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install a sufficient number of plumbing up guy cables in accordance with erection drawings, notes and after consulting with qualified engineers to secure the building in a manner to preclude sway, displacement and/or collapse.
