Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place or employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling to ground from 60 ft. height: a) Centerre 21 Building, Hwy 270 and Hwy 21, Employee(s) did not wear safety belt(s) with lifeline(s) when working from a single point suspension scaffold, i.e., Sky Genie Seatboard System, at heights up to 60 ft. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to wear safety belts or harnesses attached to a lifeline which is independently secured/attached to a substantial member of the building structure.
