Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(2): Guard(s) on machine(s) were not affixed to the machine or secured elsewhere when attachment to the machine was not possible: a) In the Molding Department- On or about January 17, 2025, the employer did not ensure that all guards on machines such as air press machine "A38", were affixed and/or secured in a manner that would prevent employees from having any part of their body in the machine moving parts or danger zone during the operating cycle. The guard on the air press machine was not secured or interlocked to prevent employees from accessing the area during normal production. Grier Abrasive Co., Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(2), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1742484, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on June 6, 2024, with respect to the workplace located at 123 Taft Drive, South Holland, IL 60473.
