29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee used appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation: a) Roof- On or about September 21, 2024, employees utilizing pneumatic nail guns were exposed to flying object hazards without the use of eye and face protection. Abatement: With respect to all future worksites in Pennsylvania, the employer must cease and desist from permitting employees to work with pneumatic nail guns, unless each employee is wearing eye protection equipment. Abatement certification and documentation to address the specific violation observed on or about September 21, 2024, is also required. The Date By Which Violation Must Be Abated listed below is for the specific violation observed on or about September 21, 2024. The cease and desist provision listed above is an ongoing obligation.
