29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a)Global Harvest Foods, LLC at 103 South Broadway Avenue, Miller, SD 57362: On or about and at times prior to January 4, 2024, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from rotating parts and pinch points from multiple manifolds on the Sunflower Seed Cleaner in the Sunflower Cleaning Building. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. (b)Global Harvest Foods, LLC at 103 South Broadway Avenue, Miller, SD 57362: On or about and at times prior to January 4, 2024, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from rotating parts and pinch points from manifolds of the Corn Cracker in the Corn Crack room. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. (c)Global Harvest Foods, LLC at 103 South Broadway Avenue, Miller, SD 57362: On or about and at times prior to January 4, 2024, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from rotating parts and pinch points on the bagging equipment in the Corn Crack room. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. (d)Global Harvest Foods, LLC at 103 South Broadway Avenue, Miller, SD 57362: On or about and at times prior to January 4, 2024, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from rotating parts and pinch points in gear and chain systems on Bagging Machine 1 in the Bagging Room. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. (e)Global Harvest Foods, LLC at 103 South Broadway Avenue, Miller, SD 57362: On or about and at times prior to January 4, 2024, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from pinch points and exposure to burn hazards in that manufacturer-provided covers were removed from the bag sealing area of Bagging Machine 1 in the Bagging Room. This condition exposed employees to amputation and burn hazards. (f)Global Harvest Foods, LLC at 103 South Broadway Avenue, Miller, SD 57362: On or about and at times prior to January 4, 2024, the employer did not ensure that employees were protected from pinch points and nip points involving Bagging Machine 1 in the Bagging Room. This condition exposed employees to amputation and burn hazards. Global Harvest Foods, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.212(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1663165, citation number 1, item number 5 and was affirmed as a final order on September 7, 2023, with respect to a workplace located at North Richmond Street, Roscoe, SD 57471.
