Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.29(b)(1): The employer did not ensure that guardrail systems met the requirement that the top edge height of top rails, or equivalent guardrail system members, that are 42 inches (107 cm), plus or minus 3 inches (8 cm), above the walking-working surface. The top edge height may exceed 45 inches (114 cm), provided the guardrail system meets all other criteria of paragraph (b) of this section (see Figure D-11 of this section): a) Radford Army Ammunition Plant Piccolo Deck: On or about 10/25/2023, the top guardrail was not 42 inches in that one side of the railing was hanging therefore could possibly expose employees to a 5ft fall hazard. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
