29 CFR 1926.651(b)(2): Utility companies or owners were not contacted within established or customary local response times, advised of the proposed work, and asked to establish the location of the utility underground installations prior to the starting excavation work. Neptune Drive, Brunswick- The employer did not contact the public utilities to mark a buried natural gas line to ensure that employees excavating multiple trenches were aware of the specific location of the gas line. The gas line crossed multiple trenches dug by the employer that was excavating to install residential water service lines and this gas line was severely damaged over the course of three days by the employer's excavation activity.
