29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface having an unprotected side or edge which was six or more feet (1.8m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest system. (a) On or about May 23, 2023, at the Paul E. Joseph Stadium in Frederiksted, St. Croix. - an employee was sitting on the ledge without fall protection at approximately 10 feet (3 Meters) in height, exposing employees to a fall hazard. The GEC, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1544419, citation number 1, item number 5, and was affirmed as a final order on Jan 26, 2022, with respect to a workplace located at Estate Donoe construction site, St. Thomas, VI. NOTE: Certification of abatement is not required for this citation item, as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
