Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3): Exit route(s) were not kept free and unobstructed: a) 325 Ruthar Drive, Newark, DE 19711 (Red Belt Pickoff Area): On or about March 7, 2023, and at times prior thereto and thereafter, the exit door was blocked by items such as but not limited to totes which can weigh in excess of 70 lbs. exposing employees to a delayed egress in the event of an emergency. b) 325 Ruthar Drive, Newark, DE 19711 (Metro Line 2 (Red Belt): On or about October 13, 2022, and at times prior thereto and thereafter, impediments to the exit route created by placed or fallen packages that blocked the steps were not minimized exposing employees to trip hazards and a delayed egress in the event of an emergency. c) 325 Ruthar Drive, Newark, DE 19711 (Metro Line 1 (Yellow): On or about October 14, 2022, and at times prior there to, and there after impediments to the exit routes, created by placed or fallen packages that blocked the exit paths, were not minimized exposing employees to trip hazards and a delayed egress in the event of an emergency. d) 325 Ruthar Drive, Newark, DE 19711 (Metro Line 4 (Brown Belt): On or about October 14, 2022, and at times prior thereto, impediments to the exit routes created by placed or fallen packages that blocked the exit paths, were not minimized exposing employees to trip hazards and a delayed egress in the event of an emergency. United Parcel Service Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1507910, citation number 1 , item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 12/20/2021, with respect to a workplace located at 40 Tivoli Drive Wells, Maine 04090.
