Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1): The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met: (a) At this location, employees engaged in landscaping operations and machine repair/maintenance were exposed to hazardous materials, such as but not limited to, oils, gasoline, and lubricants. The employer had not developed and implemented a program which would address labeling and other forms of warnings on hazardous material containers, Safety Data Sheets, and employee information and training on the hazards associated with the hazardous materials utilized on site, and is consistent with Globally Harmonized System (29 CFR 191200(a)(1)). The written program must also contain the following: 1. A list of all hazardous materials on site; 2. The methods the employer will use to inform employees of the hazards associated with non-routine tasks involving hazardous materials, such as spills; 3. The hazards of the materials contained in piping that is not labeled, and; 4. The method the employer will use to inform other employers (contractors) of the chemicals their employees might be exposed to while performing duties at the site.
