OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burn and explosion hazards: a. On or about July 10, 2022, located at Globe Metallurgical, Inc. in Waterford, Ohio, employees sprayed water directly onto spilled molten material. The employer did not prevent molten material from contacting water, exposing employees to burn and explosion hazards. On July 10, 2022, at Shop #2, Furnace #5/Ladle #7, a burn through event occurred resulting in approximately 8,000 pounds of molten material to spill onto the floor. While breaking up the material with a forklift, an explosion occurred from the molten material contacting water resulting in an employee receiving serious burn injuries.
