29 CFR 1910.213(h)(1): The sides of the lower exposed portion of the blade of radial saw(s) were not guarded to the full diameter of the blade by a device that automatically adjusted itself to the thickness of the stock and remained in contact with the material: (a) DMS Building Components, Inc.: On or before 3/31/22 the employer did not protect employees from injury in that radial saws used to cut lengths of lumber were not guarded in accordance with this standard. Saws were equipped only with the hood covering the top radius of the blade. The sides of the blades were not guarded with automatically adjusting guards or other methods of guarding providing at least that degree of protection. These conditions exposed employees to laceration and amputation hazards. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item. DMS Building Components, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.213(h)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1527373, citation number 1 , item number 4a, and was affirmed as a final order on 7/28/2021, with respect to a workplace located at 3508 N. El Paso St. Colorado Springs, CO 80907.
