29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i): Except as provided elsewhere in this section, the employer must ensure that each employee on a walking-working surface with an unprotected side or edge that is 4 feet (1.2 m) or more above a lower level is protected from falling by one or more of the following: On or about March 18, 2022, an employee was exposed to fall hazards of approximately 4 feet 4 inches while using a broom to sweep pieces of wood near the dock door openings because suitable fall protection was not being used. On or about August 1, 2022, an employee was exposed to fall hazards of approximately 4 feet 4 inches while placing pieces of plywood and dunnage near the dock door openings because suitable fall protection was not being used. XPO LOGISTICS FREIGHT, INC. WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(1)(i), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1494594, CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1 AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON JANUARY 13, 2021, WITH RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 2110 HOVEY AVENUE, NORMAL, ILLINOIS 61761.
