29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs, with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system. Or, on roofs 50-feet (15.25 m) or less in width (see Appendix A to subpart M of this part), the use of a safety monitoring system alone [i.e. without the warning line system] is permitted. On 13 Jan 2022, at a jobsite located at or near 2601 NW S Outer Rd Blue Springs, MO; an employee installing sheet metal along the edge of a roof was exposed to fall hazards. The employee was working on the flat area of the roof, near the edge of the roof with a fall distance of greater than 6 feet, with no means of fall protection. Precision Roofing was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard , which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1461356, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 09-11-2020, with respect to a workplace located at 600 W. 39th St., Kansas City, Missouri.
