29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.652 (b) or (c). a) On January 12, 2022, employees were exposed to cave-in hazards while working outside of trench boxes to install a new manhole and 8" gravity fed sewer line in an excavation approximately 20' deep with nearly vertical walls and Type C soil. NOTE: Abatement certification AND documentation are required for this item. Dahle Construction, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1260559, citation number 1, item number 1c, and was affirmed as a final order on 10/23/2017, with respect to a workplace located at Brookside Drive, Boise, ID 83713.
