Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:

29 CFR 1926.651(h)(1): Employees were working in excavations in which there was accumulated water, or excavations in which water was accumulating, and adequate precautions had not been taken to protect employees against the hazards posed by water accumulation. The employer is failing to protect employees from struck-by and caught in hazards associated with water accumulation while performing trenching activities. This was most recently documented on October 14, 2021, at the residential construction site located at the corner of SW Valley Drive and SW Meadowood Drive, Grain Valley, Missouri. Employees were working in a trench with water accumulation that was compromising the integrity of the trench walls. The employer did not take adequate precautions to protect the employees from the hazards of water accumulation.
