1910.132(f)(2) The employer did not require employees to demonstrate an understanding of the training specified in paragraph (f)(1) of this section, and the ability to use PPE properly, before being allowed to perform work requiring the use of PPE: At the Waste Water Area within U.S. Tsubaki Automotive, LLC. located at 106 Lonczak Drive, Chicopee, MA: On June 11, 2021 and at times prior, Waste Water Operators were exposed to chemical burn hazards due to not wearing protective body suits when performing maintenance tasks on 275 gallon totes of sulfuric acid. Waste Water Operators are required to perform a variety of procedures, including verifying sulfuric acid levels and tote exchange procedures on sulfuric acid totes. On June 11, 2021 a waste water technician, who was not wearing a a protective body suit, received severe chemical burn injuries on his arms, legs and trunk, while performing tasks in preparation to exchange a full 275 gallon sulfuric acid tote.
