Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10): Each employee engaged in roofing activities on low-slope roofs with unprotected sides and edges 6 feet or more above lower levels, was not protected from falling by guardrail systems, safety net systems, personal fall arrest systems, or a combination of warning line system and guardrail system, warning line system and safety net system, or warning line system and personal fall arrest system, or warning line system and safety monitoring system. Or, on roofs 50-feet (15.25 m) or less in width, each employee was not protected by use of a monitoring system. The employer is failing to protect employees from fall hazards. This was most recently observed on or about March 19, 2021, at a jobsite located at 4550 West Junction Street, Springfield, Missouri 65802 where the employer had employees removing old roofing material and insulation without protection from fall hazards. The lack of fall protection was a contributing factor to the employee falling approximately 21 feet to their death.
