29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) JBS Foods, Inc., 800 N. 8th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631: On or before February 17, 2021, the employer did not guard the rotating space between the gear box and drive sprockets on the PTC-6 conveyor belt to protect the hind quarter operator and other employees from rotating parts. During the end of shift clean-up task, an employee cleaning up product from the PTC-6 conveyor belt, reached for the product that fell off the end and became caught in the drive sprockets. This condition resulted in a left arm amputation to an employee.
