Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7):Industrial trucks shall be examined before being placed in service, and shall not be placed in service if the examination shows any condition adversely affecting the safety of the vehicle. Such examination shall be made at least daily. Where industrial trucks are used on a round-the-clock basis, they shall be examined after each shift. Defects when found shall be immediately reported and corrected. a) On and before February 13, 2021 an employee completed a PIV checklist stating that the PIV was being operated with out a key. Mule #52 was running without the need for a key in the ignition. The United States Postal Service was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.178(q)(7), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1401856, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 11/5/2019 with respect to a workplace located at7451 TEMPLEHOF DRIVE INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46241.
