29 CFR 1910.219(c)(2)(i): All exposed part(s) of horizontal shafting seven (7) feet or less from floor or working platform were not protected by stationary casing(s) enclosing shafting completely or by trough(s) enclosing sides and top or sides and bottom of shafting: The employer is failing to protect employees from amputation, struck-by, and suffocation hazards. This was most recently documented on or about March 23, 2020 at Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. located at 3105 N. IBP Road Holcomb, Kansas. The employer failed to guard the rotating shaft for the drive of the take away conveyor. Employees engaged in regular preventive maintenance, and repair, or replacement activities in the Harvest side of the plant by the restrainer belly chain (decline belt drive, on the maintenance stand) area were permitted to walk and work near and around the rotating shafts without guards provided. The Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.219(c)(2)(i), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1128104, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on August 21, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 3150 IBP Road Holcomb, KS 67851.
