Aisles between packages and pallets of merchandise stacked on the floor were reduced to as little as seven inches in some areas. a) In the northeast end of the Stock Room, the aisle between where Kitchen Products and Household Chemicals/Health, Beauty, and Cosmetics were stored was reduced to ten inches. b) In the northwest part of the Stock Room, the aisle between Kitchenware and Food was reduced to ten inches. c) In the southwest area of the Stock Room, the entrance to/exit from the Break Area was reduced to twelve inches. Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1406101 issued on June 5, 2019, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on December 17, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 1138 Martin Luther King, Jr. Expressway, Andalusia, AL 63420. The employer fails to ensure each exit route from working areas of the stock room are maintained at least 28" wide. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure objects such as U-boat type warehouse stock carts and cartons of merchandise are not placed, stacked or projecting into exit routes to ensure all employees would be able to evacuate safely during an emergency.
