29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section. a. On or about April 8, 2019, in a work area portion of a trench at or near 610 Plum Street in Marysville, Ohio, Schlaegel did not ensure employees were protected from cave-ins, in accordance with 29 C.F.R. � 1926.652(a)(1), when employees were working to place a 45-degree pipe on an existing water line in an 8-foot deep excavation. The J & J Schlaegel, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.652(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1059567, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on May 19, 2015, with respect to a workplace located near 242 E. Findlay St, Carey, OH, 43316.
