29 CFR 1910.134(e)(1): The employer did not provide a medical evaluation to determine the employee's ability to use a respirator, before the employee was fit tested or required to use the respirator in the workplace: Employees were exposed to health hazards. Employees engaged in painting activities using the Sperian 100400 NIOSH dual cartridge half mask respirator in the spray paint booth were exposed to health hazards in that the employer had not determined, through a medical evaluation, the employee's ability to use a respirator before the employee is fit tested or required to use a respirator. They were not medically evaluated before using the tight-fitting respirators during spray painting operations. Smith & Smith Aircraft International, Ltd. has been previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.134(e)(1) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1210772, Citation number 1, Item number 1, issued on 04/05/2017, with respect to a workplace located at 3738 W. 29th Street South Wichita, KS 67217, with a final order date of 04/27/2017. 29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1) requires certification and documentation that the abatement of the above violation is complete.
