OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to the hazards of crushing and struck-by or death from falling automotive vehicles: Facility: On or about February 25, 2019, and times prior to that date and after, employees working under and/or in close proximity of the hydraulic in-ground lifts were exposed to injuries related to automotive lifts with inoperable safety locks/latches, and the lifts did not have the maximum rated capacity. The following automotive lifts in the following locations were found deficient: A. Bay 12; B. Bay 11; C. Bay 7; D. Bay 6: E. Bay 4. Among other methods, several feasible and acceptable methods of abatement would be to: 1. Comply with the requirements of ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2008, Standard for Automotive Lifts- Safety Requirements for Operation Inspection and Maintenance and "Lifting it Right- A Safety Manual from the Automotive Lift Institute" which states: 2. Comply with manufacturer's recommendations and the Owner's manual. 3. Install appropriate labels/tags per the manufacture's specifications. 4. Conduct frequent and periodic inspections and maintenances and maintain the records. 5. Provided employees with pertinent information and training. 6. Utilized other engineering technologies and feasibility.
