Text For Citation: 02 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1025(d)(2): An initial determination was not made to determine if any employee may be exposed to lead at or above the action level: On or about February 1, 2019 and at times prior thereto and times thereafter, the employer did not perform initial monitoring to determine if employees, mechanically removing the metal covering from wire and mechanically separating the lead covering from the copper core of the wire, were exposed to lead at or above fifty micrograms per cubic meter of air (50 ug/m3) averaged over an 8-hour period. This exposes employees to hazards associated with exposure to lead. Sampling results obtained on or about June 19, 2019 in the warehouse found airborne concentrations of lead up to 17 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) over a 390 minute sampling period. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the actions it is taking to evaluate lead hazards in the workplace.
